A diversified industry executive who currently serves as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Clara Foods, South San Francisco. In this role he is responsible for developing the company’s global technology strategy, technology platform, Intellectual Property (IP) strategy, manufacturing supply chain, and operational best practices to position Clara Foods as a leading player in the space of Nature Identical, Non Animal derived proteins.
Previously, he served as Director of DuPont Knowledge Center (DKC), Hyderabad, India, and site R&D Operations Lead for the Agriculture Division of DowDuPont (DWDP). He served as the Technology Director, South Asia and ASEAN for DuPont from 2014-2017. In this role he was responsible for setting up the R&D strategy and asset footprint in SA & ASEAN in alignment with the growth plans of a number of business units. Prior to relocating to India on expatriate assignment in 2011, from 2003-2010 he had a variety of managerial responsibilities within the CR&D division of DuPont in Wilmington, Delaware, USA. Dr. Patnaik has extensive experience in the field of global R&D innovation ecosystem development that spans across multiple segments from industrial biotechnology, (fermentation, microbiology, biologicals & enzymes), materials science to agriculture. Prior to joining DuPont in 2003, he had entrepreneurial experience in both small and mid-sized ventures in USA (Genentech, Energy Bio systems, Codexis).
Dr. Patnaik has authored many peer reviewed articles and participated in multiple international conferences, panel discussions, grant committees and television programs related to innovation and entrepreneurship. He is a co-inventor in more than a dozen granted patents & patent applications.
He holds a bachelors and a doctoral degree in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur, India, and Texas A&M University (TAMU), College Station, USA, respectively.
