David is a seasoned leader with 30 years’ experience as a corporate attorney, investment professional, and business strategist. As a lawyer, he has served as Chief Legal Officer and Chief Compliance Officer across highly regulated public, private, and deep-tech startup enterprises from Boston to the Bay Area. As an investor at a major Wall Street firm, David was a special situations portfolio manager, responsible for ~$3B of illiquid assets, including significant exposure to Venture Capital and Private Equity. Whether as an attorney, investor, or board member, he has guided startups through growth, turnaround, and successful liquidity events in industries ranging from energy to synthetic biology. A globally cited authority on law, finance, strategy, and economic development in publications such as the Harvard Business Law Review, David leverages his unique background to drive value and advance mission-aligned governance and sustainable practices. He currently serves as the CEO and Managing Director of strategic consulting firm, CRAGSI, a partner at CRAGSI’s affiliated law firm of Groshoff, Abramson, & Urien LLP, and — following years as its Chief Legal Officer — David remains Head of Corporate Strategy at ingredient discovery pioneer Shiru.
